Saturday at Tramlines 2018 was a mix of the fringe and the official festival for me.
First up, after a wonderful lunch in Tamper, was a wander around the city centre to take in the street entertainers around Barkers Pool where I greatly enjoyed The Cling Film Guy, Granny Turismo, The Bee Gees and the two blokes having a rave. I made GIFs of 3 of these (see below).
But Sieben were something else. At this point I have to admit to a conflict of interest here: my son was singing backing vocals for the band. Photographing, and videoing, him performing at Tramlines was probably the proudest moment I have had in 8 years of covering Tramlines! However, even if my son hadn't been singing, I'd have enjoyed Sieben immensely. As it was, I loved them! They played to a packed pub who all seemed to enjoy the gig as much as I did!
We then headed back to the main festival. We were very fortunate to catch Boy Azooga; they were possibly the best band I've seen live at the main Tramlines festival (although I've seen some equally cracking live bands on the fringe, like Sieben earlier today). Boy Azooga were fantastic and were a real treat. Especially as they were a late replacement for a band who pulled out. Although they didn't pull in a big crowd to the Leadmill Stage, they had a contingent of super fans in the crowd who made it a great atmosphere!
We saw Rat Boy after Boy Azooga but the lighting for Rat Boy was awful so I didn't get any good shots of the band but I did get some of the crowd.
Finally, after some amazing pizzas, churros (for me) and crêpes (for her), I took a few photos of the massive crowd for Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.
