Today I had the real pleasure, and honour, to be booked by the Global Engagement Team to photograph the Muslim Chaplain of the University of Sheffield, Imam Sheikh Mohammad Ismail. I hadn't photographed an Imam before, and I have to admit, I was a little nervous beforehand. But I needn't have worried, he was the loveliest man.
If I was a student, and had a problem, I couldn't think of a better, and more welcoming, person to speak to over a cup of tea and a biscuit - which I noted were provided free in the Chaplaincy - than Imam Ismail. He said everyone - any faith, no faith - was welcome to visit the Chaplaincy and this inclusiveness was wonderful. I also liked the subtle rainbow stickers on the doors too which were a lovely touch. The students are certainly in safe hands with him.
He seems to know everyone and I really enjoyed it when he showed me his Facebook photos of him meeting the Queen, Theresa May, David Cameron, the chief Rabbi and many other VIPs.
Below are some of the photos I took in the session and you can see them all here: Muslim Chaplain Photos
